ESW Group™ was founded in 1998 as a research and development company with the goal to develop ceramic based catalytic converters for the automotive industry.
In 2001, ESW Group™ acquired the assets and proprietary technologies of an emissions testing and catalyst development company in Pennsylvania. Through this acquisition, ESW Group™ began the research and development of a wire mesh based substrate technology that could be adapted for usage on diesel, gasoline and alternative fuelled engines.
ESW Group™ became the first to overcome the technical difficulties of producing a commercialized wire mesh based catalyst for internal combustion engines of all sizes. This unique proprietary catalyst product achieves, in most applications, superior emissions reductions and structural durability to current conventional technologies available in the market.
In 2009, ESW Group™ obtained a Level III+ verification from the California Air Resource Board for the ThermaCat product for both on-road and off-road applications. In 2012, ESW Group™ obtained a Level III+ CARB verification for the ThermaCat-e that broadened the applicable vehicle universe to include on-road EGR engines.
